What Makes Eight Great: Sunflower Oil - 11 of 14

WELL… If it is good enough for your baby, then you know it has to be good enough for you.

Just a little information about that: “It is found that in the low birth weight, pre-term infants, sunflower oil is useful in lowering the risk of infections. In these babies, there is always a risk of infection because of their underdeveloped organs, including the skin. Sunflower oil works as a protective barrier, when applied to the skin.”

How about we adults? In skin care products, sunflower oil is one of the favorite softening emollients. You know what they say…”Soft as a baby’s bottom!”

Sunflower oil is rich in Vitamins A, D, and especially in Vitamin E. It is high in linoleic acid (an omega 6 acid), calcium, zinc, potassium, iron and phosphorus. It is easily absorbed into the skin and because it possesses many antioxidant properties, it is actually beneficial to the appearance and the health of your skin.

Discovered by the American Indian, sunflower oil has been used in cosmetic products for years.  One of the main benefits as a skin care solution is its ability to help the skin retain moisture; thus avoiding excess dryness and aging.

Sunflower oil leaves what many call a second skin after it dries… a protective barrier, if you will, making it an excellent oil to use in the wintertime.

So ” baby” yourself with Eight Body Moisture.

Enjoy!

What Makes Eight Great: Wheat Germ Oil - 10 of 14

Are you caught up in the media furor over skin care?
Confused on what works best for your skin?

Many experts urge you to always reach for a natural.

What Makes Eight Great: Vitamin E Oil - 9 of 14

Spending too much time around the pool or on the beach?

Still smoking after the Surgeon General warns you of the dangers?

Enjoying just a few too many martinis?

WELL, these are just a few of the factors that accelerate the wrinkling process. It all has to do with that “free radical” thing. When our skin is attacked by these outside forces,
the first thing they do is to strike an attack on the molecules of oxygen. As a result, the molecules get separated into free radicals.

What to do?

First… stay out of the sun or at least protect your skin from the sun, stop smoking and no excessive drinking.

Second… Make sure you are not only taking Vitamin E, but applying Vitamin E to your skin on a daily basis.

Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant which protects our skin from the free radicals we are exposed to every day.

The oil promotes healing and prevents premature aging. Vitamin E treats wrinkles by boosting collagen production, supporting new skin cell growth and speeding up cell regeneration.

Vitamin E Oil prevents water loss from the skin and helps to retain its natural moisture. Thus, it makes dull, dry skin look healthy and moisturized.

So, in your quest for beautiful skin, do not leave this essential vitamin out of your daily regime.

What Makes Eight Great: Avocado Oil – 8 of 14

I think I have always been confused about the Avocado. Is it a fruit? Is it a vegetable?

Here is what seems to be the truth: Although it is classed as a vegetable, the avocado is really a fruit since it has a stone.

BUT let’s stay focused on what is really important... our skin… Avocado Oil  yields a rich and extremely deep penetrating oil, rich in Vitamins A, B, D, and E, lecithin, as well as potassium… known as the youth mineral. It furthermore contains proteins, beta-carotene and more than twenty percent essential unsaturated fatty acids.

It is especially interesting to me to learn how this small green, wrinkled skinned fruit (or vegetable, if you don’t want to change teams) is packed full of outstanding benefits to the skin. It makes me want to just put it directly on my skin and have a bowl of chips while I bask in this fabulous herbal skin care.

So grab a Margarita while I list all the fabulous things this oil does for your skin:

High in sterolins (plant steroids) which are reputed to reduce age spots
Heals sun damage and scars
Softens the skin and imparts a superior moisturizing effect
Hydrates sun or climate damaged skin
Assists in the regeneration and rejuvenation of the skin
Significantly increases the amount of collagen in the skin
Absorbs into the deep tissue
Ideal for mature skin
Helps relieve the dryness and itching of psoriasis and eczema
Anti-wrinkle, anti-bacterial, and anti-oxidant properties

Disfrutar! (Enjoy!)

A Beauty Secret for Beautiful Skin

YOU may ask what I, Vicki Weaver Payne, have in common with Jennifer Aniston, Kim Kardashian, Miranda Kerr and many other Hollywood celebrities. Well, here it is: We all DRY BODY BRUSH!!!

Since Eight Body Moisture is running a promotional for Memorial Day 2011 – One Free Dry Skin Body Brush with the purchase of our NEW Eight Body Softening Oil – I thought you might enjoy knowing how YOU can gain celebrity looking status too… with just a brush in hand.

You have to think of Dry Body Brushing as another major tool in your beauty toolbox. Beautiful soft skin is the benefit of constant care.

When I was in the process of developing the products for my Eight Body Moisture line, I stumbled upon this concept of Dry Body Brushing. I loved it. I love what it did to the body and to the skin and I loved how it worked so well with all my other products.

Used throughout history in diverse cultures, Dry Body Brushing has been practiced as a preventative for dry skin and a way to exfoliate the body, thus simulating skin renewal and making it soft and supple to the touch. Thousands of years ago, Cherokee Indians used dried corncobs to clean and enhance the durability of their skin. Ouch!!

Anyway … start out brushing the soles of your feet, then to the tops of the feet, brushing in an upward motion towards the heart. Going over each area lightly with the brush until your skin starts to feel tingly. Go up the leg and over the entire body, always lightly brushing in the direction of the heart.

This process produces a natural glow to the skin by removing dead skin cells and improving circulation throughout the body, even benefiting the lymph system flow. Dry Skin Brushing allows the body to breathe, giving you a softer younger beautiful looking skin, and improved health.

Regular Dry Skin Brushing is the key!

It’s really simple!

Give it a try!

Enjoy!

What makes Eight Great: Emu Oil - 7 of 14

In the world of Anti Aging terminology, there is one word you need to remember… Emu!

Research is showing us that someday Emu Oil could hold the key to eternal youth. BUT, for us, living in the now, Emu Oil can improve the skin we’re in because Emu is an excellent emollient with strong transdermal properties. In other words, it can nicely penetrate the skin’s layers. It doesn’t just sit on the surface of the skin like so many expensive moisturizers do.

Emu oil, as you might know, comes from the emu, a large flightless, ostrich like bird. Maybe not the prettiest animal on the block, but Australian aborigines were said to have discovered the benefits of extracting this oil thousands of years ago. And what researchers have come to learn is that there is something in the oil that is compatible with human skin.

Leigh Hopkins, PhD., explains it in this manner: “The fatty acid composition of emu oil is very close to the correct composition of the fats as found in normal human skin.”

Emu oil is a great moisturizer because it returns skin to its natural barrier function. Best of all, it’s a natural and nontoxic substance.

Just look at all these goodies:

Softens skin and leaves a glow
Anti-Inflammatory
Odorless
Non-comedogenic
Plumps the skin
Diminishes wrinkles and age spots
Healing agent
Skin cell regenerator
Antioxidant
Natural sun screen

Since I will probably not be around for the finding of the key to eternal youth, I am going to make sure that the products I use on my skin contain this “wonder” oil… Emu!

Enjoy!

What makes Eight Great: Sweet Almond Oil – 6 OF 14

So what’s all the fuss about Sweet Almond Oil...

Maybe because the nurturing qualities of Sweet Almond Oil have been recognized for thousands of years. The use of Sweet Almond Oil dates back 5,000 years to Ayurvedic  medicine in India.

Ayurvedic, you say! Let’s break that down: ayes, meaning “longevity” and vedia, meaning “related to knowledge” or “science”. It other words, Sweet Almond Oil has been used in the study of the science of longevity for thousands of years. Ayurveda remains an influential system of medicine in South Asia today.

But let’s talk about what Sweet Almond Oil can do for you today, just in case you are not living in India or South Asia.

Sweet Almond Oil is a common ingredient in many skin care products and is proudly displayed, many times, as the primary ingredient. Sweet Almond Oil pampers the skin. It is an excellent emollient and moisturizer. As an emollient, it nourishes and softens the skin helping to keep it smooth to the touch. Its’ composition is similar to the oil baby’s excrete to keep their skin and hair healthy. This composition is beneficial to protecting and conditioning your skin no matter our age. Sweet Almond Oil helps the skin stay healthy, thus promoting a youthful look of natural beauty.

Sweet Almond Oil has some of the same characteristics as Apricot Kernel Oil…essential fatty acids, including oleic and linoleic acid. (See Ingredient 5 of 14) Both contribute to vibrant, healthy skin. As with Apricot Kernel Oil, Sweet Almond Oil is rich in Vitamin E which contributes to the quick absorption into the skin.

Sweet Almond Oil is frequently used to treat dry skin. As a dry skin treatment, almond oil relieves itchiness, soreness, rashes, dryness, irritation and burns. Sweet Almond Oil aides the skin in keeping the proper balance of moisture in the skin which is CRITICAL when treating dry skin.

Enjoy!

Please note:  Sweet Almond Oil is extracted from the kernels of the sweet almond and is an edible nut…..not to be confused with its toxic cousin, the bitter almond.
